Director Suzy Johnson, has always loved music, but did not anticipate that she would become the artistic director for RAACHE (Rochester Area Association of Christian Home Educators) Choirs in 1996 when a group of thirty homeschool students from the Rochester, MN area joined together to sing for a rally at the State Capitol. This choir would grow into an organization that encompasses four choirs and over 170 students ranging in age from 5 to 18, representing more than 90 home educating families. Suzy directs two of the ensembles, Arioso and Con Brio, oversees the administration of the organization, and helps develop the unique joy that singers discover in choral music making. The RAACHE Choirs provide opportunities for home educated students, from kindergarten through high school, to experience the richness of the choral tradition.
RAACHE Choirs' concerts are free and open to the public. All ages are welcome to attend. We perform a fall concert (generally the Thursday and Friday before Thanksgiving), a winter concert (a Thursday close to Valentine's Day), a spring musical (in late March or early April), and an audition choir concert in late April. Each November and April we enjoy sharing our musical gifts with residents in local nursing homes and retirement communities.
Participation in choir offers students the opportunity to experience the joy of making music with their voices, and the chance to sing for God's glory. We invite you to join us!
